Our Jumbled Names Competition.
Scores of entries were received for the ever-popular jumbled names contest, and many people succeeded in guessing- the correct solutions. So many, in fact, that the riddle proved the deciding: factor even in awarding the certificates of merit. Number 11 on the list was a stumbling block to many competitors, yet this was the well-known name of John Masefield, Poet Laureate. Then, again, the Christian name of Number 12 was a puzzle. Rosita Forbes is a very famous explorer and traveller, ■who has written many books on Northern Africa. The full list of names is published below. Quite a number of children lost points because of spelling mistakes, while others sent in entries written on both sides of the paper, or without a riddle, and these, of course, -were passed over to the Crocodile. Among the winning entries June Shearer's riddle had the advantage of being topical, which was a point also in favour of Owen Foster and Petals Weir.
