MORE BUSINESS DOING. SOUTH BRITISH LOWER. There has been some improvement on the Auckland Stock Exchange since yesterday midday, and a fair list of sales has been put through. At this morning's call South British had their first sale since the market slipped, a transfer being effected at £4 14/3, which compares with £4 17/ three weeks ago. After the sale the market was between £4 14/ and £4 14/3. There was a fair inquiry in the banking section, with most values steady. New South Wales were quoted ex dividend between £29 12/6 and £30 10/. New Zealand Newspapers eased further with a sale at £1 13/9, and Wilsons Cements were steady at £1 14/. The first parcel of Auckland Harbour Board loan to be offered recently promptly found a new owner at £106 10/, and Gisborne Sheepfarmer had another sale at £103. Waihis were firm and steady between £2 0/9 and £2 1/3. Bank of New Zealands Lower. A drop of a penny in Bank of New Zealand shares was received at noon, and the scrip was still on offer at the new price with buyers close, 2d below. The general tone of the market was dull, one of the few exceptions being Waihi shares, which held their rise and were in continued demand at £2 1/. Holders moved np to £2 1/6. (By Telegraph.—Special to ''Star. , ') CHRISTCHURCH, this day. After a quiet call yesterday afternoon the markets regained their activity this morning, and a large list of sales was recorded. Among the banks New. Zealands dropped sharply to business 6d lower than yesterday, with further sellers at £2 9/ and buyers Id below. Reserves had buyers fractionally stronger at £6 10/3 and sellers "at £6 11/6. National Insurance again sold, at yesterday's easier rate, though business reported was higher at £1 2/3 The market closed from £1 1/10 to £1 2/. New Zealand Breweries had business and the demand was unsatisfied, with buyers at £2 10/2. Tooth's gained fractionary. Colonial Sugar had buying orders 5/ easier, and sellers reduced their limits to £40 10/. Henry Jones had their first business since September 12, and registered a slight advance at £1 15/, but this rate was lower than recent quotations. Brian Boru had heavy dealings at the low rate of 3d, and further sellers appeared at that price. Skippers showed a decided fall to dealings at l%d less than late rates. Waihi were stronger than ever, from i> £ 1/ to £2 1/6. ' ■
