HOSPITAL AUXILIARY.
WORK FOR THE MONTH. Reports of the work accomplished by the various branches of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary were presented at the council meeting held last week. The president, Mrs. Alfred Kkld, presided. Reporting for the Onehunga branch, Mrs. T. J. C. Neill stated that distributions of reading matter and sweets had been made, and a delightful concert had been arranged by Mr. C. Harroway. Wireless sets were providing enjoyment for patients in T.B. shelters. Sister Mulcock reported that 15 T.B. patients had received extra nourishment from the auxiliary funds, and it was gratifying to see how they had picked up with the help they had received. Garments distributed from the Park Road depot numbered 33S in November, 108 in December, and 374 in January. Miscellaneous donations had been received. Outside workers (special mention being due to Mrs. King and Miss Le Roy of Devonport) and the following institutes and branches, Mount Eden junior and senior, Birkdale, New Lynn, Kohekohe, Hobsonville, Bombay, Glen Eden, and Te Atatu, had sent in a large number of made-up garments and donations. Toys and books had been received from the Girl Guides and the Boy Scouts' Associations at Christmas lime. A large number of orders for extra nourishment had been given to ex-patients in November, December, ami January. A strawberry mid ice cream treat had been held, in December for hospital patients, the success of which was due to Miss Ross (hospital dietitian). Nurse Alexander was instrumental in distributing all the used carpets donated by the Nurses' Homo amongst ex-hospital patients. Boxes returned from hotels showed satisfactory receipts. The sum of £0 10/ was received from a bridge party held by Mr. Crawford, of Mount Eden. A large number of applications for wireless sots had been received from hospital patients—spinal and other cases, which nccessitntc a long term In hospital. It was agreed that something must be done to assist these people.
