GISBORNE LIBRARIAN.
A WOMAN APPOINTED. The appointment _ of a trained librarian to take charge of the Turanganui Public Library was made at a meeting of the library committee on Saturday. A large number of application? were received from all parts of New Zealand for the post, and the final selection was made on Saturday, when Miss Kathleen Instone, of Christchurch, was appointed. Miss Instone will commence her duties at the end o<! next month. Miss Kathleen Instone's name is well known to book-lovers in New Zealand. She is at present senior assistant librarian at the Canterbury Public Library, and was on exchange for a time I recently with the Wanganui Library. Miss Instone is responsible for the preparation of the Canterbury Library's list of books in demand, and also writes critiques on new books and prepares reviews for radio talks on books, which she is prepared to give in Gisborne. Miss Instone is also keenly interested in repertory work. It is the intention of the committee to reorganise completely the system of exchange of books in the Turaiiganui Library, find the Dc\vey system of classification of non-fictional booka is to be introduced.
