POWER BOARDS.
PROPOSED SECRETARIAT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Tuesday. The Franklin Electric Power Board to-day decided to support the proposal to establish a combined power boards' secretariat. The proposal originated at the last power boards' conference in Wellington. The chairman, Mr. Dean, explained that it would cost the board about £35 per year, whereas at present the board was contributing 17 guineas per annum for the privilege of being able to send delegates to the power boards' conference, which was of negligible value when compared with the benefits which would be gained from the new body. Mr. G. T. Pnrvin said it should be recognised that the formation of an executive would have far-reaching effects, and would undoubtedly be the means of adding now and beneficial legislation to the statutes. The association at present was of no benefit to the board. It was decided unanimously to support the proposal.
