S. ISLAND MAIN TRUNK.
EARLY COMPLETION URGED. (By Tclccrnpfl.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. The Christclmrch City Council this evening approved of a report of a subcommittee favouring the completion of the South Island Main Trunk railway line. Dr. H. T. J. Thackcr was chairman of the eub-committee.
Members of the committee and other members of the council who spoke said the main reason for urging the completion of the line was that it would provide work at standard rates of pay for many men at present unemployed.
