ELLERSLIE LOAN.
CONSTRUCTION OF FOOTPATHS
The Government Loans Board lias approved a proposal by the Kllerslie Town Board to raise a loan of £.1000 for the construction of ten and a half miles of concrete footpaths in the board's area. The Loans Board has stipulated that the term of the loan shall be for 20 years, the rate of interest is not to exceed .'H per cent, and that a sinking fund is to be established at a rate oi not less than 3} per cei\. The Town Board proposes to engage unemployed workers at standard rates, and a poll of the ratepayers is to be taken to get sanction for the loan.
The Town Board also intends to carry out work to improve the Ellerslie main highway, in connection with which the Highways Hoard lias granted a £3 to £1 subsidy.
