PERSONAL.
Mr. Harvey Turner has returned from Wellington. Mr. A. Close, of Sydney, left by the Niagara yesterday morning. Canon C. A. B. Watson left for Wellington by the Limited last night. Mr. C. M. Croft, Canadian Trade Commissioner, has returned from the South Island. Dr. E. Marsdcn, secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, is at the Station Hotel. Dr. D. A. Bathgate, of Hastings, who has been seriously ill for some time, arrived in Auckland on Monday, accompanied by Mrs. Bathgate, and is an inmate of a private hospital. Lieut.-Commander E. W. J. Bankes, who has been attached to H.M.S. Dunedin as squadron signal officer, left for Sydney by the Niagara yesterday on his way to England. He was accompanied by Mrs. Bankes. Mr. T. B. Clay, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, is attending a meeting of the executive of the Harbour-j Association in Wellington. Mr. H. B. Mackenzie presided at the meeting of the board yesterday. Mr. J. C. Irons, managing director of the»Union Steam Ship Co. and tlio Canadian Pacific Eailway at Vancouver, accompanied by Mrs. Irons, left for Australia by the Niagara yesterday. They expect to return to New Zealand in March.
