SIR CHARLES MARR
FRONTIERSMEN'S WELCOME. Major Sir Charles Marr, who arrived on Monday from Fiji, was entertained last evening by the Auckland branch of the Legion of Frontiersmen. He was introduced by Captain W. Palmer, anrt welcomed by Lieut. E. E. Taylor, who referred to the Work done by their guest for the returned soldiers. In replying, Sir Charles said that his successful career in Federal politics was largely due to the trust and confidence shown in him by returned soldiers. He emphasised the need of cordial relations between Australia and New Zealand, and said that it was unfortunate that friction had developed as the result of embargoes. There was need for "give and take" in Imperial relationships, and New Zealand should work with, Australia to break down artificial barriers and help to solidify the Empire. He believed that the centre of the British Commonwealth of Nations would eventually be in the Pacific. i
