, AUCKLAND CLUB. TRACK AFFECTS TIMES. ELLIOT'S GOOD EFFORT. Good entries in all sections were seen in the fifth mooting of the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club at the Western Springs Stadium on Saturday. The track was heavy after the rain, and the effect of this was seen in all times except the 100 yds. D. Baii'd won the 100 yds off 6yds in evens, but', A. J. Elliot, fourth, from scratch, was not more than half a yard behind, and his time could have boon hardly more than 10tj. This augers well for the international meeting next Saturday. Miss J". McConnell ran a great 100 yds to win in 12s from scratch. K. B. Munro made an auspicious entry into the hurdles. He is well enough known as a sprinter. In his first appearance on Saturday as a hurdler he won the 220 yds event off 7yda. S> W. Hanson was the best performer in the field events. Ho won the bop, step and jump, the broad jump, and the throwing the javelin. : Among the cyclists A. Dwight, A. G. Patrick and P. P. Morris performed well for the Mauukau Club, M. P- Pyrites and A. Windsor for the Auckland Club, E. L. G. Hughes and C. Gooder for Lynndale, and M. Kara, R. Taylor and C. W. Allen for Papatoetoe. In the final of the A grade two-mile event Patrick beat ByrnesPatrick holds the one kilometre unpaced title, the two laps sprint, and the fivemile race in his club, while Gooder also holds three club championships. The Lynndale Amateur Athletic Club held its club championships at the club's track on Saturday. There was a tine attendance of members and good performances were the order of the day. N. Armistead was successful in winning both the javelin and discus throwing championships, while N. Funnell. in winning the 100 yards in 10 1-5, hroke the club record. The last named was also successful in (lie 220 yds hurdles championship in fast time and the broad jump championship with a fine performance of 20ft 4 Jin.' W. C. MeCombie was responsible for a fast half-mile, recording 2.4 in winning the club championship. Later he came out and won the 440 yards A grade handicap In 545. equal to the club record. W. A.
