WEEK STARTS BRIGHTLY. SHAP.P RISE IN WOOLWORTHS. Business on th= Auckland Stock Kxchanpc started off bvishly for a new week, and .it (ho first call n sjooi! list of sales was put through. A feature of tin- business was a sharp rtsc in Woohvorths (N.Z.i. the £1 shares, Which paid 22% per cent dividend lust year, changing hnnds at £10, an advance of XI "-"<> since Christmas. In the banking section Xeiv Zcnlmuls were firm and sold 2(1 better, at ±".2 10 11. after which the market stood between £2 10, 0 and C 2 10, 11. Bycroft's were firmer and sold 1 i> better, at i''2 12 6, with move wanted at 1/ under the sale price, and holders asking 6d higher. Colonial Sugars were firm between £41 5/ and £42. There -was a good demand for Government stocks at full late rates. VVoolworths. Ltd. [Sydney) were steady between .Ci 11/ and £i 12 . The Noon Call. At the noon eall bidding was keen, and Rood busin.-ss was recorded. Queensland .Insurances; wero asked for at £2 18/. but holders wanted £3 1 <i.
