RUNS COME EASILY. TOWKSEND'S GOOD CENTUKY. UNIVERSITY SCORE FREELY. With the wickets all in favour of rimgetting, good scoring was general on Saturday, when the second series of matches in the second round of the Auckland Cricket Association's senior championship was commenced. The one century of the afternoon was hit up by the professional coach, L. F. Townsend, who made 1-' for I'onsonby against Grafton. ]n ihe mainijgame at Eden Park, Par 11 ell batteil most of the afternoon to make 283 against North Shore, A. W. McCoy carrying his bat for 81. North Shore batted long enough to make 31 without loss. On No. 2 wickct Ponsonby compiled 307 against Grafton. who lost three wickets for St). Tn the third game at headquarters King's Old Boys, after a splendid start, ■wore all out for 213 (L. M. Smith 811 against Eden, who replied with 73 for one wickct. The best total of the afternoon was registered at the North Shore ground, where University made 318 (L. B. Schnauer 82) against Y.M.C.A. (one for S). Detailed results follow: —
