The principal results were :— One Mile, Free Style.—Taris (France) 1, Ilerl'ord (New South Wales) 2, Farcy (New South Wales) 3. Won by 10 yards, 200 yards between soeoud find third. Time, 22. C1 4-5. Vocklcr, Victorian champion, withdrew with cramp at DSO yards, leaving Farey third. CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIPS. j (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCII, this day. Four provincial records were broken on the first day o£ the Canterbury Swimming Centre's championship meeting on Saturday. Three were in the senior women's section and one in the intermediate boys' section. Mi.ss N. Hnghes lowered the record for the 440 yds by more tliau 80s, defeating the tiUe-holder by 40yds. She also won the 100 yds in the record time of 69 4-ss. Miss R. Low won the 220 yds breaststroke event in 3.8!) 3-ss, this being 4-5s better than the record. 11. Horsefell set new figures for the 100 yds intermediate boys' breaststroke, his time being 81 1-us, which is 4 3-5s better than the previous record. OVERSEAS VISITORS.

FRENCHMEN AND CHINESE. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) CIinrSTCHURCH, this day. The New Zealand Swimming Council has arranged for a short tour ia the Dominion by Joan 'Paris and Kinilo Poussard, the French champions, and Kwok Chun Hang, the Chinese. They will arrive in Auckland on March 4, and leave Wellington on March 14.

NEW BREASTSTROKE RECORD.
