ALL QUIET IN THE SAAR.
SOLDIERS WITH FIXED BAYONETS.
NINETY-SEVEN PER CENT OF VOTES CAST.
The plebiscite to determine the future control of the Saar area has been taken, and the result will be announced at Saarbrucken at eight o'clock to-morrow morning. Ninety-seven per cent of the possible votes are estimated to have been cast, the voters including large numbers of people now resident in other countries. Contrary to alarming rumours which had been circulated, all incidents at the voting booth were orderly, and no cases of violence are reported. Lorries guarded by armed police and soldiers carrying fixed* bayonets collected the voting urns. Lively scenes followed the closing of the poll. A late message reports that a bomb was thrown into the Nazi headquarters at Neunkirehen, but no one was injured.
