Nor much business was finalised on the Auckland Stock Ex .-hange this morning, but bidding at the first call of the week was fairly free on the basis of late rates. There was a better demand, for banking scrip, almost every listed lino being asked for. Reserves were very firm, and after a sale at lust week's record price of Xo. 12/G the market settled between £o 11,0 and £6 13/0- New Zealand* were steady from 49/1 to 49/6. Insurances were keenly sought at late rates, and there was a fair inquiry for Government slocks at unchanged prices. An unusual transaction was the sale oi n panel of Phillipps and Impey shares, the first for several years. A buyer paid 50' for a small parcel. These shares earned 10 per cent dividend last year. Waihis were wanted at 39/, but there were no sellers. Woolworths in Demand. At the noon call continued demand for Woolworths, Ltd., brought a sale at 83/6, after which the market, rested between 83/ and 84/. Woolworths (N.Z.) wee quoted between £8 and £9. There was fair interest in the mining section. Waihis were in demand at 39/3, Alexanders at 16/, and Blackwaters at 31/(6.
