OBITUARY.
MR. W. A. PATERSON.
A well-known breeder of Jersey cattle, Mr. William Allan Paterson, died at To Rapa, Hamilton, on January 13, aged 70 years. He arrived in New Zealand from Glasgow when 20 years of age, and was dairy farming on a large scale in Otago. Afterwards he conducted sheep stations at Te Aku and Te Poi. About 13 years ago Mr. Paterson bought a property at Te Rapa, and specialised in Jersey breeding, lie was a member of the Te Rapa Drainage Board, the Jersey Breeders' Association, and was a justice of the peace. ill'. Paterson leaves a widow and live children.
MRS. ELIZABETH SKINNER,
The death occurred at the Waikato Hospital on Saturday afternoon of Mrs. Elizabeth Skinner, wife of Mr. A. J. Skinner, builder, and a member of the Morrinsville Borough Council. Last Thursday .Mrs.. Skinner was cleaning the top of a stove with a rag soaked in kerosene. This caught lire and ignited Mis. Skinner's clothes. She rushed outside, calling to her son, Mr. Thco Skinner, who was as]eep. He jumped through a window to his mother's assistance and succeeded in putting out flic flames, but not before he was badly burned on one arm and both hands. Dr. Morrow ordered Mrs. Skinner's admission to hospital, where she died from burns and shock.
Born in Lancashire, Mrs. Skinner came to New Zealand with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Simpson, when she was in her first year, the family arriving in the original lonic and settling at New Plymouth. Afterwards they removed to Stratford. On the death of Mr. Simpson, who was on the staff of the New Zealand Railways, the family took up their residence in Petone, where Mrs. Skinner was married 30 years ago. Mi-, and Mrs. Skinner lived for some years at Tatiianui before going to Morrinsville. There arc three sons. Messrs William. Eric and Thoo Skinner, and fwo daughters, Mrs. T. Rogers, of Owhango. and Miss Eunice Skinner, of Morrinsviile.
