LINESMAN INJURED
FELL FROM TOWER LORRY
WELL-KNOWN FOOTBALLER. Mr. Charles Edward Gregory, aged 32, formerly a well-known Rugby and League footballer, was injured at Newmarket last evening when working on the platform of one of the Auckland Transport Board's tower lorries. He fell 20ft to the ground and received spina] injuries. He was taken by St. John Ambulance to Auckland Hospital, and his condition, which was fairly serious, was reported to-day to be satisfactory. At the time of the accident Mr. Gregory was handling an overhead wire. It broke away and knocked him off the platform. 'Mr. Gregory, who is a married man, resident at Dorset Street, Westmere, played Rugby with the Fonsonby team and represented Auckland in 1922 and 1923. He then played for the Marist Old Boys' League team, and in addition to representing the Auckland League in representative games, toured England with the New Zealand League team in 1920.
