£10,000 DAMAGES.

DESTRUCTION BY REBELS. MADRID, November 20. Spain is preoccupied with the problem of the restoration of the Asturian region, which (Suffered so terribly in the. recent uprising, and where the damage. :is estimated at least at £10,000,000, although some damage, such as that to the " G'amara Santa," the Oviedo cathedral, which is an art jewel dating back to the ninth century, is irreparable. The National Commission for Public Monuments is making enorrtious efforts to save as much as possible of the " Camara Santa," which was partially wrecked by dynamite explosion when the rebels tried to capture the cathedral. No trace has been found of the " Cross of Victory," which' Don Pelayo is supposed to have worn when he began the reconquest of Spain from the Moors in the eighth century. With the early confusion past and with journalists now permitted to visit the disturbed zone, a clearer picture of the actual happenings is available. Most of the atrocity stories are now shown to be completely false.
