RAIN AND HAIL.
Torrents Fall in Queensland Districts. YOUNG MAN DROWNED. (Received 10.30 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. Torrential rain has fallen over central and southern Queensland, causing flooded creeks in a number of districts. Storms in the Roma district yielded nearly four inches of rain in an hour, while in the Gladstone district 12 inches were recorded in the afternoon.
Several houses were unroofed, and hail was piled up to a height of 18 inches. Water was four feet over the railway line between Dalby and Bell.
Robert Roberts, 21, was washed off his horse and drowned when attempting to cross a swollen stream.
