DUKE'S BRIDE.
MARINA ARRIVES.
Royal Lovers Greeted by Crowds
In London
SCENE AT THE PALACE,
(United T.A.-Electric Telegraph-Copyright) (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON", November 21. Prince George met Princess Marina at Dover, where they entrained for London, arriving in a dense fog. No ceremonial marked tlife arrival. The crowds were very silent until the pah* entered their car to drive off to the Palace, when there was tremendous cheering. A great crowd at the Palace railings cheering continuously for half an hour. This was redoubled as the Duke of Kent and Princess Marina appeared 011 the balcony and waved. Later, unrecognised by many bystanders, the couple drove to St. James' Palace for tea with the Prince of Wales and returned to Buckingham Palace to an informal dinner party. Princess Marina paid several hundred pounds in duty at Dover, but her cases were not opened as she was allowed to sign a special declaration in Paris. When she becomes a member of the Eoyal Family her luggage will not be subject to Customs examination.
The Duke's pet name for the bride is Mara, and he addressed her in this way at Dover when he asked what the passage was like. "The sea behaved very well, but it seemed a terrible long time," replied the Princess.
This morning Princess Marina and her two sisters left Paris for London. Meanwhile the Duke of Kent, in order to avoid the possibility of lateness through fog, left London by an early train to meet his bride and to be at Dover in time. The Princess crossed the Channel in a specially chartered cross-Channel steamer, the Canterbury. There was a good deal of fog in Southern England and in the Channel, but the conditions were not such as seriously to affect the arrangements.
