In pursuance of its policy of increasing the frequency of services in preference to speeding up machines, Imperial Airways announce the duplication of the services from London to Calcutta and Johannesburg. This will give a twice-weekly service in each direction for passengers and mails to India and Africa, also four services weekly between Britain and Egypt. The duplicated service opens from London to Johannesburg on January. 1. The plans do not involve additional aircraft but extra work will be demanded from machines on Empire routes which now fly an average of only 2000 miles weekly, coin pared with the London-Paris 'planes' 1000 miles daily.
