PONSFORD'S RETIREMENT. "FILL" OF SERIOUS CONTESTS. MELBOURNE, November 21. The Victorian cricketer W. H. Ponsford has decided to retire from big cricket. He said to-day that after 15 years lie had "had his fill'' of Test matches, touts and other first-class matches. "They impose a strain on players which is not realised by those who watch," said Ponsford. "I no longer possess the vim and keenness which are so necessary. Another factor is that I do not wish to linger on the stage and then be pushed off by lack of form." Asked to reconsider his decision, Ponsford said: "M.v mind is made up and nothing will induce me to change it."

LONDON, November 20. The personnel of the Marylebone team which is to ga to the West Indies on December 15 will be as follows:—-Wyatt (captain). OTAHUHU ASSOCIATION.

Considerable discussion took place at the weekly meeting of tlie management committee of the Otaliuhu Cricket Association on several remits from tiio Otaliuhu Umpires' Association, several members of which were in attendance. The committee promised full sifpport in oases where players are reported for misdemeanour. A letter from the Auckland Cricket Association in connection with the sports fixture on December 1 in aid of the coach fund was received, and it was decided to postpone all games on that date. Club delegates are to submit names of players who will he definitely available if selected for games at Christmas. Tills will enable the committee to reply to any offers of games from other associations that may be received. Saturday's senior games are : — Sturgess Park.—Mount Richmond v. Returned Soldiers, Messrs. Tucker and Glynn. Abattoirs No. I.—Challenge v. Hellabys, Messrs. Ingram and Sims. Challenge.—St. Josephs v. Railways Messrs. Kirk wood and Nicholson. JUNIOR GRADE. Sturgess Park No. 2.—Trinity United v. Railway, Mr. Stlnton. Papatoetoe.—Papatoetoe v. Lee and Arlington. Mr. Bennett. High School.—Technical High School v. Kempthornes.

At the request of the Auckland Association it was agreed to suspend all matches on Saturday week to enable players and supporters to attend the sports carnival at Alexandra Park, which is being promoted to augment the coach fund.
