MATAMATA NOTES.
INJURY TO GLENADE.
RETURN OF PRINCE YAL,
Three Matamata horses will be competing at Ellerslie 011 Saturday—Master Norval, Scotland and Royal Dance. The last-named has only had two races, both being at the last Wellington winter meeting. lie looks like making a smart hack.
The compounding of Glcnade in the hurdles at To Hapa on Saturday, atLcr being out at least six lengths in tile lead, was due to hint jarring a pastern in the near foreleg three hurdles from home. His rider states that the horse was very difficult to hold together from this on. Glenade now has a big swelling in the leg and is confined to liis box. K. J. Mateer states that only time will tell the seriousness of the injury.
It is unlikely that Lapstono will be persevered with. This gelding has been tried over hurdles and on the flat this season without any promise. Indications are that he has gone in the joints, and he is to be returned to his owner.
First Dame is rapidly coming into racing trim and is improving in her track efforts. R. <T. Mateer will probably start this mare at one of the country meetings before Christmas. He has a Taranaki trip in view.
Prince Yal is now located on his owner's farm at Okoroire, where Valpeen is also trained. After being purchased for 300gs by Mr. G. Campbell, from Mr. J. Clothier, the horse was left with P. Hogan to race in the South Island. He failed to score.a win. It is his new owner's intention to educate Prince Val to the jumping business.
