A REAL MONSTER.

SEAL'S BODY, HORSE'S HEAD.

CAPTURED ON ATLANTIC COAST. ELIZABETH CITY (N.J.), Oct. 20. At last it has conie to pass. A sea monster, a bona ikle one —a 2000-pound denizen that looks something like a seal and has a head like a horse —is in captivity. It was caught, beached, and ' drydocked, lock, stock, and, barrel—by a group of seine fishermen, and to-day it flipped around in an improvised pool. And, just to keep it from venturing too far, a 50-pound sea anchor tugs on one of its two flippers.

When the monster was brought up from the sea, the surprised fishermen tied ropes around it and, aided by two motor ears, hauled it up on the beach. Then it was dragged to the pool.

How does this' honest-to-goodnes? specimen look? Its weight —by estimate —is between 15001b and 20001b. Its body is 10ft long. It measures 3ft across the back and ISin in diameter. It has a fan-shaped tail, 2ft long.

Its skin, brownish black, appears to be very thin, and it has a few tufts of hair here and there on its sleek body. Its face suggests that of a horse, but it has no teeth. Fishermen said it ate grass while it lay on the beach.

It conies' up to the surface of the pool every now and then, presumably to get a bit of air.

It may not be the British Columbia or Loch Ness monster, but the people hereabouts say they have never seen the like of it before.
