NEW PROPOSALS.
DAIRY INDUSTRY. REQUEST TO DIRECTORS. (By Telegrnpli.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON", Wednesday. Following addresses by Mr. D. S. Reid, M.P. for Raglan, and Mr. C. J. Parlanc, general manager of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, some 130 farmers from all over the Hamilton district discussed the dairy legislation and dairy report for over two hours at Tc Kowliai lust night. Mr. Reid's speech was in defence of the Government's attitude, while Mr. Parlanc criticised the Agricultural Empowering Bill and the proposed executive commission of agriculture. Mr. E. C. Hockin, president of the local branch of the Farmers' Union, which convened the meeting, presided.
Resolutions were carried unanimously opposing Government control of the dairy industry, and expressing an intention of taking any steps necessary to prevent it being 'brought into effcct; also requesting dairy company directors, as leaders of the industry, to collaborate in formulating alternative proposals to those of the dairy commission to be placed before Parliament when it was again in session.
