CONFIDENCE TRICK.
ELDERLY MAN VICTIMISED.
INMATE OF INFIRMARY.
A mean trick by which an old man was defrauded of his savings was mentioned in a report which came before the Auckland Hospital Board at its meeting yesterday afternoon. The Auckland Infirmary committee stated that an inmate who was in a senile. condition and nearly Mind had reported that another man, a nonresident at the infirmary, had played the "confidence trick" on him, with the result that he had been able to draw all the old man's money from the savings bank and to get away with it. The matter, the committee stated, had been reported to the police. The same committee reported - that recently there had been several cases of clothing disappearing from the wards at the inlirmary, and in one case from the locker room. The Christmas issue of new clothing had begun, and evidently some persons were taking advantage of that fact.
