WILD AFFRAY.
FISHMONGER GAOLED. SUBURBAN HOUSE ATTACK. WIFE AS HOUSEKEEPER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A wild affray in a suburban house was described in the Police Court to-day, when Frederick James Jones, a fishmonger, aged 40, was charged with assaulting John Henry O'Callaghan, and •also his own wife, from whom lie is separated, and who is O'Callaghan'u housekeeper, The policfl said Jones went to O'Callaghan's ho ise, having consumed some liquor, and announced his intention of murdering O'Callaghan ad his wife. Jones attacked O'Callaghan, who tried to defend himself, but was badly knocked about. Mrs. Jones attempted to separate the fighters, but accused seized a walking stick, with which he beat O'Callaghan, and blood spurted from O'Callaghan's head. After much fighting Mrs. Jones secured the stick and attacked Jones. The stick was broken, and when police officers arrived the building resembled a slaughter house, added the seniorsergeant. Jones was then being held down by O'Callaghan and Mrs. Jones. Jones was sentenced to three months' hard labour.
