PEACE AND WAR.
FEARS OF THE WORLD TO-DAY.
ARMISTICE RECALLS PAST SACRIFICES
OBSERVERS SEE MENACES IN FUTURE.
DISTURBING FEATURES IN EUROPE.
While the peoples of many nations were paying reverent tributes to the honoured dead and mourning the loss of sons and husbands in the Great War, the menace of a repetition of the horrors and sufferings of 1914-18 were emphasised by prominent personages and the Press of Britain. In striking contrast to the significance and solemnity of Armistice Day is the statement by the veteran Journalist, Robert Blatchford, that he is convinced Germany again means war "which she will prosecute with satanic hatred and ferocity." Lloyd George, while not fearing war in the near future, says there is "a ferocious grin above the horizon."
