SOUTHERN EXCHANGES.
TO-DAY IN CHRiSTCHURCH. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this clay. After practically a full week's break, the Stock Exchange resumed normal business this morning. The market in the banking and investment sections was active, but mining was very quiet. The most notable feature among the banks was the sharp rise and steady activity of New Zealands, which sold at £2 10/, four parcels changing hands. Reserves are also very firm, a new high level of £6 12/3 being reached. The banking section in general presented a very firm tone. New Zealand Breweries regained activity and sold freely at £2 10/. Tooth's, the only other issue quoted, were unchanged. In the miscellaneous section, Anthony Hordern made a sudden jump of 1/4, and after a sale at 17/6 the market stayed at buyers 17/4, sellers 17/7.
