LIVE STOCK MARKETS.

GISBORNE VALUES. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") GISBORNE, Saturday. The low prices of the previous week resulted in small yardings at the Matawhero stock sale, all sections being weak, with prices showing little variation. Two outstanding pens of Hereford and Polled Angus cows in the fat cattle section made £4 7/6 and £4 10/, but the rest of the. entry, comprising generally poor quality, made only low figures. Fat sheep showed some advance on last week, shorn ewes making 12/ to 12/10 and woolly ewes to 15/10. The store sheep entry was too small to give any reliable indication of prices. Pig prices were noticeably easier, following a drop in export prices. Slips brought 11/6 to 18/6; weaners, 15/6 to 18/; stores, 20/ to 25/; porkers, 30/6 to i 34/. BUTTER PRICES UP. _ An increase of Id per lb in the wholesale prices of all grades of butter will become effective to-day. The new wholesale net prices will be lOd per lb for finest and first grades, 9d for second grade, and 8d for whey butter. Retail prices are generally 2d per lb higher than the wholesale rates.
