CHAMPION GOLFERS.

' CLUBS' CONTEST. WIN FOR W. B. EUSTACE. Twelve Auckland clubs were represented in the annual champion of champions golf contest played at Maungakiekie yesterday. A medal contest over 36 holes, the ovent was won by the Otahuhu player W. B. Eustace, with a total of 152. With J. Coitmau, of Titiraugi, Eustace returned the best card in the 'morning. In the afternoon he improved by four strokes, whereas Coltman was four strokes worse, finishing in secoml place with an aggregate of 100. Following were tho scores:— W. 15. White, Orakei 93, 90—183 1). G. Macl'arlane, Maungakiekie, returned 89 for the morning round, but did not put in his afternoon card. Coltman was awarded the trophy for runner-up on a count back over the last nine holes. At the invitation of the Maungakiekie Club representative players from all the city clubs took part in four-ball matches in the morning, ami foursomes in the afternoon, the results being as follows:— Four-ball Bogey.—Mcnzies and Plumley, 4 up; A. M, Colliding and Hawley and E. 13. Brown and A. i. .Johns, 2 up. Scratch. Foursomes, Medal.—E. Tillmarsh and J. 11. Earle, 78; R. M. George and H. Morpeth, 80; S. S. Wilson and R. R. McCrystal, 80. George and Morpeth received the second prize on tho count back.

The handicap medal foursomes was won by J. M. Elliffe and J. S. Milne with ,i net score of T.'Hi.

Before presenting the champion cup, Mr. J. M. Ellifle, president of tho Maunguklekic Club, welcomed the visitors and congratulated the prize-winners. It gavu him particular pleasure, lie said, to sec before him a gathering which included the officials of all the eluhe, and this was a happy augury lor the popularity of intcrclub golf. Presentation of Cup. Mr. Elliife presented the Thomson Cup to K. F. Ward, president of the Titirangi Club, which won it thin souson, and mentioned that tho cup had been donated by Mr. W. J. A. Thompson when president of the Titirangi Club at the time when the Maungakiekie and Titirangi Clubs assumed separate control. The cup was donated by Mr. Thompson for annual competition between the two clubs, and Titirangi had been successful on each occasion. Mr. Ellifle called upon Mr. A. I. Johns, president of the Auckland Golf Club, to present the pennant banners to tho Titirangi Club, winners of both the A and B grade inter-club contests. Mr. Johns congratulated the winners, and Mr. Ward, in reply, said that his club would do its utmost to retain the banners in 1935. A presentation was made to Mr. A. M. Colliding, chairman of the committee in charge of pennant golf and the champion of champions fixture. Mr. If. Morpeth, captain of the Maungakiekie Club, referred to the invaluable work accomplished under Mr. Colliding'* leadership in the control of inter-club matches and the town versus country fixture. Mr. Colliding said he considered the pennant matches had done an enormous amount in improving the general standurd of play, especially among the younger players. On behalf of the delegates of the various clubs, Mr. Colliding then made a presentation to Mr. M. E. Ward, secretary of the pennant committee. A. vote of thanks was extended to Mr. R. M. George, who was in charge of the day's programme. Mr. A. I. .Johns thanked the JVlaungakiekie Club on behalf of the visitors.
