THE CONCLUDING DAT. VINTAGE WINS METROPOLITAN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. Interesting racing was witnessed at Riccavton to-day, when the Canterbury Jockey Club's Metropolitan meeting was concluded in fine and very hot weather. The track was fast and {rood times were recorded, notably by Mobile in the Members' Handicap. The principal event, the Metropolitan Handicap, was decisively won by the top-; weight, Vintage, who also scored in the I Fendalton Handicap last Monday. He was second favourite. Only two first fancies, Synagogue and Sam Smith, in the last two races, were successful. L. J. Ellis gained two more wins, making nine for the meeting, and bringing his total for the season to date to 31, He now leads by seven from W. J. Broughton. Totalisator investments amounted to £35,774, compared with £38,325 on the fourth day last year. The total for the meeting was £115.311, against £110,164, an increase of £5147.
