CHURCH PARADES.

MANY SPECIAL SERVICES. So that the two minutes' silence might bo fittingly observed, morning services in all the city ciiurciies started a few minutes before 11 o'clock yesterday. Special prayers and hymns for Armistice Day were included in the evening service at St. Mary's Cathedral, Parnell, where Canon Fancourt took as his subject, "Peace or War?" The sacrifice of the Mass was offered for the repose of the souls of the fallen in the Great War at the 11 o'clock service at St. Patrick's Cathedral. A special serivce was conducted by the Rev. F. De Lisle in the Mount Eden Congregational Church. About 100 members of the Eden-Roskill Returned Soldiers' Club and Girl Guides attended, and a wreath was placed on the memorial tablet in the church by returned men. Members of the Ponsonby and Heme Bay Ex-Servicemen's Association _ attended the morning service in All Saints' Church, where the preacher was the Rev. W. W. Averill. The Ponsonby Boys Band led the parade from the Ponsonby Drill Hall to the church. Members of the Victoria League tended soldiers' graves in Waikumete and O'Neill's Point Cemeteries. Flowers were arranged on all the soldiers' graves at Waikumete, and a wreath was placed on the monument. Miss J. A. Mowbray, president of the league, thanked those who had assisted. A service was conducted in the evening at the Holy Sepulchre Church, where the Rev. J. E. Draper was the preacher. Members of the British Legion attended. - ~.'.. A combined service was held m St. John's Anglican Church, Northcote, where the Mayor, Mr. R. Martin, members of the Borough Council, returned soldiers, boy scouts, and girl guides attended. The Mayor, Mr. G. Mills, and members of the Birkenhead Borough Council attended All Saints' Anglican Church.
