PEOPLE'S DAY.

WAIKATO SHOW. HORSE JUMPING HONOURS. MANY ATTRACTIONS. (fey Telegraph.— Special Reporter.) HAMILTON, this day. To-day, tlie second day of the 43rd annual summer (show of the Waikato A. ami P. Association! was People's Day. Though the weather threatened yesterday afternoon, the day was fine, and it was people's day in fact as well ;l s name. Towards the early afternoon a consistent line of spectators made their way towards thp Claudelands racecourse. There is n definite atmosphere about ''show day" in Hamilton. Many visitors from neighbouring towns arrive by car. bus and train. The balance of the judging was com- I pleted to-day. Uniform praise for all sections was given by the judges, perhaps particularly in the Jersey, Clydesdale and pig cFaesee. The care paid to the last named and to heavy horses is ■a straw in the farming wind. Some fine jumping was seen yesterday; but that to-day, with the goal of the Dominion title in view, was as good as anything seen here for years. There is no wane i" the popularity of the light horsee.

The wood-chopping events were an innovation, and a popular one. Leading axemen from all parts of the province competed. Again the exhibition of the Hamilton Kennel Club, held in conjunction. wa<> a well-patronised feature. The grand parade was a sight to remember. Jt was the culmination of a fine display of live stock, some of which has no superior in the Dominion. From the point of view of the layman, the "march past" wae spectacular, embodying the pageant of the progress of agriculture.

A sign of a pacing depression was the larger commercial exhibit, an Important section of which was a miniature motor Olympia. A word should lie added about the organisation. It was efficient and complete and reflected much credit on the officials concerned. Awards: — Championships. HORSES. Draught: Marc—T. E. Duck; reserve champion. W. C. Wallace.
