BRITISH COUP D'ETAT. "Some Kind of Movement" to Seize 8.8.C. LABOUR PEER'S ASSERTION. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, November 9. During the committee stage in the House of Lords on the Incitement to Disaffection Bill Lord Allen said it recently came to his knowledge, from a source he had no reason to doubt, that there was some kind of movement afoot in Britain to seize the British Broadcasting Corporation's Building and bring about a coup d'etat similar to the one prepared in Vienna. In an interview with a representative of the "Daily Herald"' Lord Allen, who was formerly an official of the Independent Labour party, refused to say whether the plan came from the Right or the Left, but said it was seriously discussed by one of the parties, which believed in unconstitutional action. He did not think the plans had progressed beyond the contemplation stage. The House of Lords spent nearly 12 hours discussing the bill. There were numerous divisions on [Socialist amendments, all of which were defeated. The committee stage Mas completed at 4.12 a.m.
