THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL.
REFERENCE TO DEPARTURE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHUKCH, Friday. "I suppose I can call this a valedictory speech," said the Governor-General, Lord Blcdisloe, when referring to his impending departure from New Zealand in the course of a speech at a luncheon at the show grounds to-day. " I must eay with some sadness," said his Excellency, "that my wife and I are shortly about to flit to our ancestral haunts in the Old Land; but, speaking without exaggeration, we shall leave behind us no small part of our hearts and sympathies. None will learn of your returning prosperity with more genuine joy."
