SEVEN STOREYS.
NEW BLOCK. OF FLATS. / . EDEN STREET BUILDING. A contract has been let to the Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd., for the erection of a block of modern flate in Eden Street, as an extension to the Conrtville group. The cost, exclusive of furnishings, is in the vicinity of £55,000. The architect is Mr. Sinclair O'Connor. The building, -which is to be of reinforced concrete, -will be of seven storeys, and contain 50 flats. All the latest modern ideas -will be incorporated, and of the flats 24 -will be of the three-room type (living room and-two bedrooms), and 26 -will have a living room and one bedroom. All the flats will be self-con-tained, with the lateet electric conveniences, and each will have its own hotwater service. The building will be heated throughout from a central plant. The frontage to Eden Street will be finished in golden brown bricks, and the other exterior -facings of the building will be finished with Portland cement. At the spacious front entrance there will be imposing columns at each, side and a suspended canopy. On the ground floor -will be a, spacious social room measuring 65ft by 22ft, and just inside the main entrance will be a large lounge leading to the stairway and automatic lift. A garden is to be laid out in an area of 100 ft.
