OBITUARY.

MRS. C. F. R. HARRISON. A former teacher in the Wellington district, Mrs. Ellen Mary Harrison, wife of the Rev. C. F. R. Harrison, of Koyai Oak, died 011 November 2. She took great interest in church activities at Coromandel, Waiuku, Waitara, Huntly and Royal Oak. She is survived by her husband, a son and a daughter. MR. ALFRED CLARKE. A resident of Palmerston North for 50 years, Mr. Alfred Clarke has died, aged 78 years. Born in Norfolk, England, he arrived in Auckland in 1875, and engaged in various pursuits, including mining, but finally was an accountant. When the Manawatu A. and P. Association was started in 1880, Mr. Clarke was appointed secretary, holding similar positions in various dairy companies. Mr. Clarke retired 10 years ago. MRS. SARAH G. D. TOTMAN. The death at "Woodstock," Opalieke, Papakura, of Mrs. Sarah Greives Deane Totman, widow of Mr. Thomas Totman, occurred on November 3, aged 83 years. Mr. and Mrs. Totman came from Essex in 1877, and had the last farm in Grey Lynn, which was finally cut up under the title of Grey L.'iin Parks Estate. They then took another farm at Opaheke 30 years ago. Mr. Totman died six years ago. There are two sons and two daughters.

MR. R. M. CLEGHORN. A well-known resident of Auckland, Mr. Robert Martin Cleghorn, died suddenly at his home, Heme Bay, on November 3, aged 50 years. He was born in Crindledyke, Scotland, and came to New Zealand with his parents when ho was live years old. He entered the employ of the late Sir George Fowlds in 1893, and finally was manager of George Fowlds, Ltd., in Queen Street for twelve years. He was also one of the directors of tho company. An expert bridge player, Mr. Cleghorn recently won championship honours for New Zealand in a world-wide tournament. He was also a keen golf player. He is survived by Mrs. Cleghorn and two sons, Messrs. Glen and Harold Cleghorn, both residents of this city.

MRS. ALICE HARDY. A resident of New Zealand for 09 years, Mrs. Alice Hardy, of Mount Albert, daied on November 4, aged 01. She was born In Islington, London, and in June, 18(55, was married to Mr. Charley Hardy. They arrived in Auckland in October the same year by the ship Alquis, and went to a Government grant of 40 acres at Dairy Flat, where they lived for 35 years. In 1900 they moved to Mount Albert. Mr. Hardy was a member of tho Road Board at the time of his death in 1914. Mrs. Hardy had splendid health, and continued to road without the aid of spectacles. She is survived by the following children: Miss. F. F. Hardy (Wellington), Mrs. A. Beazley (Mount Albert, Mrs. E. Spencer (Mount Albert). Mr. C. L. Hardy (Mount Albert) and Mr. G. H. Hardy (Sydney). There are 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grand-children. MR. ARTHUR P. O'LEARY. Mr. Arthur Parsons O'Lcary, whose death recently occurred in Sydney, was a well-known business man irf New Plymouth, and a member of an old Auckland family. He was born at Maforca, near Melbourne, in 1805 and came to New Zealand with his parents when a few years old. His schooldays were spent in Auckland, where he attended the Prince Albert College. He entered the employ of Messrs. Ilallenstein Bros, at Auckland, and while still a young man was appointed manager of * the "firm's branch at the Thames. He subsequently was manager of the Hawera, Oamaru and Westport branches. Starting business for himself, Mr. O'Lcary established the Melbourne Clothing Company at New Plymouth, with brandies at Inglewood, Stratford, Eltham and Hawera. He travelled extcnsivclv in Europe, England and America". He retired from business a few years ago and came to live in A tickland. It was while lie was on a visit to Sydney that his death occurred, following an operation. He is survived bv Mrs. O'Lcary, who ifi at present in England, and two daughters, Mrs. Olave Sanders and Airs. Eileen Rossbotham, of Buenos Ayres, Argentina. There are several grandchildren: Ml'- D. " ■ O'Lcary Northcote. is a brother,_ and a sister. Mrs. L. Kelly, is a resident of Birkenhead.

MRS. CATHERINE McCALLUM. \n old resident of Auckland, Mrs. Catherine McCallum, died at her home in Chester Street, Mount Eden, on October 31, aged 88 years. She was born in Aberdeen, and arrived m Auckland in the ship Portland with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Eraser, in 1860. Her eldest brother, Mr. George Eraser, had arrived in Auckland two years earlier, and had founded the well-known engineering firm of George Eraser and Sons. 'Miss Eraser was married in IS6B to Captain John Monro, of the steamer Tanranga, which two years later was lost with all hands. There was one son ot the marriage, Mr. George Fraser Munro. of Auckland. In 1874 Mrs. Munro was married to Mr. John McCallum, of the shipbuilding firm of McCallum and McQuarrie. In 1894 Mr. McCallum bought Pakihi Island, in the Hauraki Gulf, where he and his wife went to live. Mr. McCallum died in 1905. The following children survive:—Mr. G. F. Munro, managing engineer in the firm of McCallum Brothers, Mr. John McCallum, formerly a sawmiller, of Kaikolie and Whangaroa, and now of Remuera, Messrs. W. F. McCallum, A. F. McCallum and D. F. McCallum, members of the firm of McCallum Brothers, whose interests are mainly centred at Pakihi Island, and Mrs. John Brown, of Grey Lynn.

MRS. ANNIE E. ANDERSON.

The death occurred on November 3 at Birkenhead, where she had resided for the past 35 years, of Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Anderson, wife of Mr. Hans Martin Anderson, aged So years. With her first husband she came from England in 1873 in the sailing ship Borah, and shortly after arriving at Auckland went to New Plymouth. While living at Waitara, she experienced many exciting incidents connected with the Taranaki native troubles of that period. Deceased is survived by her husband and a family of eight, Messrs. F. Prince (Nelson), W. Prince (Ellerslie), C. Prince (Birkenhead), 0. Anderson (Auckland), A. Anderson (Rotorua), Mesdames B. Hogan (Devonport), W. Simons (Auckland), and G. Wheeler (Birkenhead). There are 31 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

MRS. MARY BELCHER,

Born in Makara, near Cape Terewliiti, S3 years ago, Mrs. Mary Belcher died recently at the home of her son at Raglan. She leaves five sons and one daughter.
