FASCIST "MARTYRS."
Mussolini at Commemoration Service. FUNCTION AT FLORENCE. (Received 11.30 a.m.) FLORENCE, October 28. Croat preparations are being taken to ensure the safety of Signor Mussolini on his arrival to honour 37 Fascist "martyrs" who fell in the early Fascist struggles. The streets are hung with black flags inscribed with their names. Thousands watched processions with their coffins, which were carried from the mortuary chapel to the Church of Santa Croce, Florence's Westminster Abbey. Signor Mussolini stood at the doorway of the chapel, leading the Fascist salute as the coffins arrived and the name of each of the dead was called out, and the spectators cried "present."
