BUTTER TRADE.

LONDON PRICES IMPROVE. DANISH PREMIUM "ABSURD." DIFFERENCE OF 0D PER LB. (Received !l a.m.) LONDON, October 26. The butter market is showing signs of improvement.' Prices of New Zealand and Australian have advanced 3/ to -!, a cut, and Danish has jumped 10/. This recovery in partly due to the announcement that the Australian, Dairy Board is restricting exports, and the expectation that New Zealand will follow Australia's example shortly. The rise in Danish butter is due to heavy buying by Germany. It strikes most people as extraordinary that the price of Danish butter in London should bo 50/ a ewt higher than New Zealand and Australian. This is largely duo to the fact that owing to German demand Denmark is now sending less to London than usual. A certain number of consumers here insist on having Danish. Their requirements are estimated at about 2000 tons a week. This week's shipments have fallen considerably below that amount, consequently the price has gone up, and Danish butter is now selling retail at (id a lb above Now Zealand and Australia. This seems absurd when the qualities are compared. for experts generally agree that the best Dominions' butters are quite as good as Danish.
