AN EASIER TENDENCY. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") CHRISTCHUKCH, this day. Miscellaneous stocks reappeared on the sales list at the opening call of the week. Values generally were firni, • the most notable feature being a further sharp rise •in.the price of Worksop, which had business and sellers up to 3/, compared with just over 2/6 at the close of last week. • The Government section was quiet and quotations seemed steady at late rates. Commercials of Australia had the only ■business among the bunks, other quotations being firm. New Zealands were still on offer at £2 9/, which was 3d higher than buyers. Insurances were very quiet. The demand for British Tobacco shares showed a marked slackening, and sellers were still willing to do business at £2 1/2 after a parcel had changed hands Id higher. A seller of Broken Hill appeared below last week's sales level, but buyers were reticent and stayed at £2 11/0, without business being done. __ Dunlops were fractionally lower, and Kauri Timbers lost Id. Apart from a rise in Worksop there was not much interest in the mining section. Brian Born were weaker, with sellers offering at 1/2%, and Mahakipawas had dealings at unchanged rates.
