BAD START AT WELLINGTON.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Wellington cricket season was opened on Saturday in unfavourable weather, play being twice Interrupted by rain, and stumps had to be drawn shortly after r, p.m. Wellington College Old Boys scored 139 for three wickets against University. Midland lost eight, wickets fur 101 against Wellington (I. Syines seven fur 44). Institute lost eight wickets for 155 against Kilblniic. Kain prevented a ball being bowled in the I'etone-llutt game.
RECORD SCORE AT PIAKO. In Hip match at Matamnla on Saturday. Roberts scoring 170 not out for Old Boy.< against Okauia, created a record Xor cricket in Piako.
