DEAD MAORI.
GRAVE CHARGE LAID. KING COUNTRY MURDER ECHO CONSTABLE KEEPS' SLAYER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. A charge of unlawful carnal knowledge against Hcnare Hona, murderer of Constable Heeps, and who is believed to have been responsible also for the untimely deaths of four members of the Davenport family, was before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Police Court today. Detective "White asked for leave to withdraw the charge, as the accused was dead, having shot himself on October 21. The charge was laid on October 17, when a warrant for Hona's arrest was taken out. The magistrate dismissed the case for want of prosecution.
