Watson races prominently CENTENARY THOUSAND. (Received 9 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. When the competitors in the Centenary ■Inousand cycle race reached Mount Buffalo, on the fifth stage of the event, the road beyond was impassable owing to rain and the route will now probably he varied. The riders arrived at Mount Buffalo drenched and inud-covered after an arduous climb. »atson (New Zealand) was first to arrive, followed by Cruise, Mithouard and Opperliian. Watson also won the A grade sprint.

The Te Arolia Cycling Club held a road race on Wednesday afternoon, the course being over a distance of 21 miles. Result: A. Cave (3.30). 40.40 2-5. 1; .T. Stanley (a.O). 51.10 2-5. 2; G. Cave (5.0), 51.10 4-5. 3; C. Douglas f4.0), 53.5 2-5, 4; F. •Allen (7.0). 53.12 3-5, 5. Fastest time : A. Cave.
