ASSAULT CHARGE
ACCUSED REGRETS ACTION.
"I don't think he intended to use the knife, but merely intended to frighten the complainant," said Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in dealing with Thomas Abel Bier, aged 40, who admitted a charge of assaulting Samuel Klippel. Sub-Inspector Scott said the accused and the complainant were members of a tie-making company, and for some time there had been differences between them. Matters came to a head on Saturday, when accused picked up a knife and threatened the complainant; Klippel went away to avoid any serious trouble. "I understand tlie parties have now made it up, and I suggest the accused should be bound over to keep the peace," said the sub-inspector. Mr. R. McVeagh, for the accused, said the latter had expressed regret, the parties had shaken hands, and there was no likelihood of further disagreement. His Worship said he did not think it would do any good to bind accused over. He would be convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within six months.
