FIRE AT DARGAVILLE.
SETTLERS' SERIOUS LOSS
(By Telegraph.—-Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, this day. An early morning lire totally destroyed the dwelling of Mr. Robert Ackerley, one of the Wilson block settlers, who were recently established under the unemployment scheme by the Small Farms Board. Though the building was insured by the Department, the contents, valued at about £100, which were lost, were not insured. Neighbours rendered assistance, but could not save the residence. Great sympathy is felt for the settler, his wife and two children, as they have lost practically everything they possessed. It is understood that the Small Farms Board is already arranging to replace the house.
Lieutenant-General Sir A. J. Godlev. G.C.8., and Lady Godlev. who will this month visit New Zealand on their way to the Melbourne Centenary celebrations, will return to New Zealand after the celebrations and remain until the middle of March.
