SYDNEY, October 7. New Zealand-owned and bred horses were again in the limelight at the conclusion of the Australian Jockey Club's spring meeting at Randwick yesterday, registering three wins and two thirds. Golden Promise, owned bv Mr. G. F. Moore, and trained by O. Cox, of Ilawera, won the first division of the Canonbury Stakes, in which Sir. W. R. Kentball's colt Whernside was third. Nightly, owned by Mr. J. A. McDougall, of Wairarapa, and trained by F. D. Jones, gained his first success in Australia in the Randwick Plate, and King March, trained at Randwick by J. T. Jamieson, credited his Auckland owners the Hon. 10. R. Davis and Mr. O. Nicholson, with a good stake when he won the Waverley Handicap. Roy Reed, who rode Nightly Into third place in the Metropolitan, which many consider the horse was unlucky not to win, was allowed the fee for a winning ride on Nightly in the Randwick Plate. M. McCarten was substituted for Reed in the saddle. Results: — CANONBURY STAKES of £500. Two-year-olds. colts 8.5. geldings 8.2, fillies S.O. Five furlongs. First Division.
