SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

The beautiful home of Mrs. Fred Yates, Remuera, was the setting on Saturday evening for a delightful pre-wod-ding dinner party given for Miss Margaret Rainger and Mr. Ronald Yates. Mrs. Eric Yates was the hostess for the cabaret party, which followed. The guest of honour wore torquoiso blue corded ottoman, wltli slight train. Guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hume, Mr. and Mrs. E. Yates, Mr. and Mrs. F. Yates, Mrs. Sutherland Wilson, Dr. and Mrs. Douglas, Mr. and Mrs. R. Purdorn, Misses Barbara Agmen Smith, Alison Laery, Pat Newton, Tal Barton, Jean Kent, Dina Isaacs, Connie Rainger, J. Madden, T. Agmen Smith.

A bright and enjoyable tea party was given by the ladies' committee of the Titirangi Golf Club as a farewell to two of their most popular nmnbers, Misses Connie Bray and Ailsa Racket, who were leaving for the Centenary celebrations. Beautiful flowers adorned the tea table, many choice blooms being culled from the garden of Mrs. Chad Court, Stanley Bay. Mrs. Laurie Taylor, the president, in a brief speech, presented the guests of honour with beautum "bouquets of flowers and a small gif"-. There were fifty members present, including Mcsdames C. Finlay, C. Court, Leighton, G. McMillan, Cooke, Burke, Taylor, J. Finlay, Harrison, Gregory, Misse-s Wright, M. Duder, Murphy, McGlashcn, Easton, Webster.

Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Brooke entertained a large number of guests at their residence, "Ohaiawa," Buekland's Beach, at a luncheon party in honour of thendaughter, Grace. During tlje afternoon songs were rendered by Mesdames McFarlane, Croucher and Mason, and Messrs. McFarlane and Brooke. A recitation was given by Miss G. Brooke. Among those' present were: Mesdames Brooke, McFarlane, Mason, Mahoney, Millar, Curtis, Baster, Burgess, Croucher, Hancock, Whittle, Smith, Morrow, Allan, McDonald, and Misses Allan, Baster and Brooke. The guest of honour wore a becoming frock of patterned red marocain, and Mrs. Brooke was in black georgette.

A welcome home bridge party was given in honour of Mrs. H. McCoy, of Parnell, when the hostess, Mrs. Garston Watt, entertained a number of friends at the Lyceum Club. The lounge was arranged with bowls of wistaria, irises, and clematis. Mrs. Watt received her guests in navy blue marocain, and blue hat. Mrs. McCoy wore a blue floral ensemble, small blue 'jat and furs. Among those present were: Lady Herdman, Lady Richardson, Mrs. Buddie, Mrs. Owen Campbell, Mrs. Ctanton, Mrs. Gumbleton, Mrs. McKenz'e, jun., Mrs. G. Devore, Mrs. Morton, Mrs C. Tewsley, Mrs. Greenland, Mrs. Leigh, Dr. Maddison, Mrs. Mackenzie, Mrs. Gunn, Mrs. Vivian Hunt, Mrs. Culpa", Mrs. W. Johnston, Mrs. C. Michael, Mrs. H. Rainger, Mrs. Maitland, Miss Joyce Hcrdman, Miss McCartney.

Organised by the members of the Fleur de Lys Girls' Club connected with St. Peter's Anglican Church at Takapuna, an enjoyable dance was held in the parish hall on Saturday evening. The extra dancc music was played by Miss Joy Corfe. The committee comprised: Mrs. R. Hailey- Trill (president), Miss Louise Williamson (secretary), Miss Ruth Foote, Miss Bidcly Foote, Miss M. Mowbray, Miss Leslie Woods, Miss D. Mills. Among those present were: Misses Meg Garland, Sunday Mowbray, Janie Winstone, Ruth Rider, Lorna Goddard, J. Mawhinney, Trixie Goddard, Noel Whitecombe, Joan Howie, Pauline WoodrofTe, Ailsa Lynch, Thelnia Stokes, N. Blampied, Tui Coulthard, Elaine Watts, Joan Stacpoole, Joan Dicker, Helen Kcll, Marjorie Brown, Joy Corfe, Joan Anderson, Elaine Kingsford.
