Morro Castle Fire.
£280,000 INVOLVED.
(British Ofllcial Wireless.) (Received 2 p.m.) RUGBY, October 2. It is understood that the British marine insurance market will have pail, within tlio next few days, claims amounting to 1,400,000 dollar*;, that jp, £280,000, resulting from the total Icks of the American liner Morro Custle, which caught lire on September 8, an.l in which many lives were lost. Considerable sums have already been sent froir London to New York.
Although the British market makes a practice of prompt settlement, the speed in the present case ie noteworthy, in view of the time taken in the.arrival of the neceeeary documents from New York.
