Mr. C. M. Richwhite went South by the Limited last night. The Hon. John Alexander, M.L.C., left for Wellington by the Limited last night. Mr. W. Macliin, chief aviation officer of the Vacuum Oil Co. in New Zealand, is at the Grand.Hotel. Mr. A. M. Satterthwaite, one of the New Zealand delegates to the Rotary conference at Detroit, has returned to Christehurch. Mr. W. E. Hancock, manager of the Union Steam Ship Co. at Suva, arrived at Wellington on Monday by the Maunganui from Sydney. The Rev. H. I. Hopkins, assistant curate at Rangiora, has been appointed vicar of Chatham Islands. He takes up his new duties at the end of December. The Rev. C. W. Chandler, now at Rockhamptou, Australia, has been appointed vicar of Cambridge by the Bishop of Waikato, the Rt. Rev. C. A. Cherrington. Mr. Chandler, who whs formerly assistant Anglican city missioner at Auckland, expects to take up his new duties before Christmas. Mr. W. T. Ikin, who has been appointed manager for New Zealand tor the A.M.P. Society in succession to Mr. C. M. Martin, arrived at Wellington by the Maunganui on Monday. Mr. Martin intends leaving by the Makura on October 10 to take up his new position a* secretary and chief inspector of the society, with headquarters at Sydney.
